Operation Zenith.
There was one main objective: find and capture the Sin of Discrimination.
Being a part of the ninth division, I was led to strange encounters with supposed members of Heathen. If we could find Heathen, whether that be a location, a theology, or both, it would take us one step closer to finding our target.
Pursuing the investigation alongside my comrades, we came to a standstill with a certain apartment building bearing odd characteristics. There were many loose ends tied to this location. Its rooms were filled with mystery—each one was plain, empty, all but a circular symbol on the wall at which individual tenants stared at while docile.
We speculated that these individuals were victims of some sort, considering they were unresponsive to previous interferences. They remained in their rooms, stuck in one spot.
Our expedition to the building would include saving these tenants, one way or another. That was about the only clear objective. Everything else about the apartment was vague and unknown. Only our further exploration of its possible secrets could unveil more intentions involving Heathen, possibly pertaining to the Sin of Discrimination.
Within the joint operation were some of A.X.A.'s heavy hitters.
Fourth of the Upper Four, Celeste. With his calculation-oriented mind and his Fractal "Trajectory," precision would be at its peak with him around.
Third of the Upper Four, Sav. Bearing the talented Fractal "Gateway," our means of transportation in quick instances would be through his generated wormholes.
The Man in Black, "J," the top combatant from the first division of Overseer Azrael's task force. Apparently quiet with zero means of communication, but when action arises, him and his interchangeable weapon "Duality" could serrate through any tight situation.
Emanuel, previously Eight of the Tenfold. With his Fractal "Eagle Vison," our group had high scouting potential.
Cynthia, previously Seventh of the Tenfold. Her Fractal "Harden" was known to be one of the most defensive in all of Melysia's military. Her support would provide substantial benefit.
Second of the Upper Four, Kyra. She's the master of adaptation to nearly any scenario using her Fractal "Panorama." She's able to see most of what the rest of us can't.
Then, there's me. Klyson, previously Fifth in the Tenfold. I'm Fractless. I have no special power or capabilities like everyone else. I'm just a plain human being. When I look at my group this way, listing everyone and their abilities alongside me, it's clear I'm overshadowed. I mean, what could a Fractless do at all alongside the rest of these powerhouses?
That was up to me to prove.
I had three pairs of eyes watching me from the dead. Another watching me in a heavy comatose state.
It was a small audience, but it was an audience nonetheless. I wouldn't want to disappoint the few individuals willing to encourage me from the side. And I said that as if I knew they'd cheer me on, whether they were dead or alive. I wouldn't know. But they encouraged me still, whether it was intentional or not. Understanding their efforts and motives until their very ends is what's kept me searching for more in myself moving forwards.
Although the expedition we were about to pursue was not the focal point of Operation Zenith, it was the focal point to me and my own story.
What was awaiting us in that apartment?
