In the black void, Eric found himself facing the enigmatic figure, a white silhouette with no facial features or clothing, observing his memories with cold detachment.
Unknown: (Sighs) After seeing this, you truly are pathetic. Your family dying one after another, and you, a weak and helpless individual, unable to do anything to change your fate. You could have stopped your father from leaving, perhaps saved him from the battlefield, or stolen medicine for your dying mother. But no, you did nothing, and now here you are, lying dead. No one will remember you. Adventurers expect nothing but death from weaklings like you.
Eric: (Defiantly) I tried my best! I worked hard and did everything I could!
Unknown: (Mockingly) Do you really believe that? You think you can actually achieve something? I'm not stopping you, just stating the truth.
Eric: (Frustrated) Why am I even here? I'm going to find a way out of this place!
Unknown: (Casually) Oh, sure, go ahead. But remember, I'm just an observer. You're the one sinking into the void, suffering from the poison the goblins injected into your wound.
Eric: (In denial) No, I can't accept this! I've dreamt of exploring the world, becoming strong!
As the pain intensified, Eric struggled to move away from the haunting figure, but his body refused to cooperate.
Eric: (In agony) What are you doing to me?
Unknown: (Nonchalantly) Nothing much. Just watching you face the consequences of your actions. Remember when that goblin stabbed you in the back? The bastards poisoned the wound.
Eric: (Desperate) I can't die here! I made a promise to myself. I will prove everyone wrong.
The black void seemed to engulf Eric, leaving only his head above the darkness.
Eric: (Resolute) I promised I would become someone, someone worthy of respect and admiration!
The white figure strolled away, unaffected by Eric's struggle.
Unknown: (Lifeless) People always think they are the main character of their own story, but most will only live with regrets and ultimately perish. Well, hurry up. I have somewhere to be. Someone's time is running out.
A loud noise, reminiscent of dice being rolled, echoed through the void.
Unknown: (Intrigued) Well, it seems you might actually have a chance. Don't waste this opportunity.
