Chereads / Tiberius, Reborn and Lazy / Chapter 6 - Prologue (5)

Chapter 6 - Prologue (5)

"What? I must have heard wrong..."

The Goddess pushed herself away from my chest, glaring up at me with a frosty expression.

Smiling at her, I raised my hands and said "You said I could ask for anything, dear Goddess~! Personally, while having the ability to... 'feel' things again is nice, this seems like a lot more stress than necessary, y'know? So I just want to go back and rest in that comfy black void..."

Her expression went completely neutral, while her eyes smoldered with anger before she grinned at me.

"Sadly, you can't~! Once I take your soul from that void, it can't go back... the only way to enter that place is to die, and well..."

Reaching forwards, she stroked my chest, her fingers stopping just above my heart as she continued on, her cheery voice at odds with the darkness on full display in her eyes.

"If I kill you here, you die for good. No soul, no more 'Tiberius'. You, as a person, an entity, are gone forever. No take backs~! Nothing~! Just... gone!"

Her fingers poked my chest a few times, and she grinned widely at me as her fingers phased into my flesh, the Goddess happily chanting "Poof~!" over and over again as she stroked my heart.

Retrieving her hand - and leaving me a tad pale - she smiled sweetly at me as she asked "Now, Tiberius dear, certainly you aren't stupid enough to ask for that again, hmm~? Besides, why would you want to leave this place~?"

She twirled around, displaying the soft white expanse before waving her hands.

Trees sprouted from the ground, laden with succulent fruits, while a comfortable bed appeared beneath those trees, providing it shade.

Plopping onto it, she smiled seductively at me as she pat the soft sheets, her voice taking on a coy undertone as she said "Besides, I'm certain we could... 'relax' quite well here, my dear Tiberius... Just me and you, forever..."

Her eyes were cold voids as she said that, before she beamed at me as I approached her again, my mind whirring.

Being trapped here with just her... yeah, no.

"Goddess, then how about this?"

Kneeling in front of her, I gave the clearly smitten woman my most charming smile as I asked "You enjoyed watching me down on that planet, no?"

She nodded, inching closer as she licked her plump, juicy lips, whilst her voluptuous breasts drew ever closer, their welcoming softness just a few inches away...

"I did indeed... You were a fun human, Tiberius. Always entertaining, always so handsome... You were such..."

Sighing, she reached down and stroked my cheek, muttering "I couldn't wait to have you, but you shone so brilliantly as you were alive... I'm saddened that that luster is gone, but new things are always beautiful too..."

"Then..."

I laid my hand on hers, making the woman blush as I caressed her dainty hand, her skin smooth and cool to the touch.

"How about you send me back to the world of the living?"

She froze again, but before she could erupt I placed a finger on her lips, making her melt a little again.

"Listen first, dear Goddess... You said I shone beautifully when I was alive, no? Then you should know that I wasn't living a life that I wanted to live... So how glorious would my shine be when I lived a life I wanted?"

Her crimson and violet eyes grew distant, the Goddess imagining that as I continued onwards, my hopes rising.

"How great would it be to see me shine without anything besmirching what you found so enamoring about me? To see my brilliance as I walked the land of the living once more? Surely you could do that much for me..?"

Licking her lips, the Goddess stared at me hungrily for a moment before narrowing her eyes, a small smile on her face as she whispered "You just don't want to be here, with me, right..? I'm a Goddess, Tiberius, not some insufferably stupid, vain woman who'd just acquiesce to your wishes wh-"

"Pretty please~? I'll give you a kiss?"

Her entire face went red, and the Goddess looked away as she bashfully swatted my arm, unable to look at me as I gave her the most sincere, gentlest smile I could muster, all while I caressed her warm cheek.

"Besides, you found me once when I died... when - even if it takes a thousand years, maybe tens of thousands of years - I die again, couldn't you just find me again~?"

"W-Well, I-I... Wh... M-Maybe..? Y-Your l-l-l-l-lips... I-I mean, u-um, y-yesh..."

Leaning down, I stared her in the eye and brushed her silvery hair behind her ear, revealing more of her flawless skin to me.

I had to hide a smirk as her voice melted alongside her body, the Goddess resting against my chest and staring straight at me, her crimson and violet eyes hazy.

Jolting up a bit when I trailed my thumb over her ear, the Goddess took a deep breath and looked away, saying "Y-Yes, if you were to reincarnate through me, I could find you easily when you die again! After all, you'd be living a new life thanks to my powers!"

"Good... Then, dear Goddess, will you do this for me? Will you reincarnate me and give me your blessing? So that I can live a life unfettered by a status I didn't want, allowing me to do what I please?"

"U-Um..."

The Goddess looked away, before her head snapped back towards me as I added "I'll give you two kisses?"

"Two~? O-Oh~! W-Well, maybe..."

Her eyes lingered on my lips, before she looked to the side as she waved her hand, showing me a silver mirror.

It rippled, before shifting from a reflection of us to one of a giant sphere of green, brown, blue and white.

Zooming in closer to the sphere, the Goddess showed me the city that I was familiar with, coughing into her fist before saying "This is where you'd want to be, right? Somewhere you know?"

"I... Sure, why not."

She nodded, before a barrage of faces drawn onto pieces of paper fluttered towards us, each one revealing different information about each person.

Grabbing one, she showed me what was written, explaining "These are the bodies that are available to be... taken over by your soul. People dying, weak of will, wishing to die, or already dead. For instance, this..."

She frowned, staring at the balding, scrawny face of a middle aged man, muttering "Hideous..." to herself.

"This is Zachary Schultz, a Guild Worker who... wow, is divorced twice and paying child support for two children, who were from the two different women. He's regressed into being an alcoholic again, and just got into a verbal bout with a few adventurers, who... murdered him after his shift ended."

She grimaced before tossing the page back into the large wall of pages, sighing to herself.

"Anyways, you'd just say 'I accept' before being placed into that body. Well, it can take a while for the 'incompatible' bodies are sifted out, so..."

Looking up at me all cutesy like, she puckered her lips and pressed her large chest against mine, saying "Should we get those kisses out of the way, Tiberius~? Heh... Heh~! M-Mayhaps more than that..? Like s-s-s-s-s..."

Hearing her stuttering over her words, I blanched before scanning the pages quickly, finding one that looked decent enough before snatching it, making her eyes go wide.

"This one! I accept!"

"HEY! TIBERIUS!"

My body was enveloped in a crimson and violet swirl of mist, and the Goddess grit her teeth and cursed, stomping her foot.

"NEVER HAS A MORTAL ANGERED ME LIKE THIS! ME! THANATA OSIR!"

I blanched at that name, the multicolored eyes of the Goddess of Sacred Death, Vengeance, and Rituals focused on mine.

"DAMNIT! FINE, GO! Damnit, why does he look so handsome even now?! Stupid Tiberius! ARGH!"

She stomped away, throwing herself onto the bed and pouting / glaring at me, watching as I was funneled into the silver mirror.

"Dummy... Fine, I'll be here, waiting..."

The last thing I heard as I was transferred from that realm made me shudder, the dark, possessive tone of her voice sending shivers into my very soul.

"After all, I'll have you again eventually... No one escapes me."

With that, I was jammed into the body that I had chosen, and everything went black again.
