Chapter 7 - Who is Stanley Morgan?

"Stanley Morgan," Orion's voice resonated with a haunting whisper as he spoke the name.

"He is the only son of Russell Morgan. You know him, don't you?" He asked and I shook my head.

"You know him."

"I don't."

"Are you sure?" He asked again and took one more step closer.

I shook my head and kept my eyes downcast. I wished Orion could understand the overwhelming intimidation his mere presence caused me, and how it made me feel so small and inferior. Silence lingered in the room as he continued to stare at me.

I shivered and instinctively took a step back when Orion's fingers grazed my upper arm.

"Lia, please relax," he pleaded softly as though he was talking to one of his patients, his touch lingered on my birthmark that resembled a scar.

Leaning closer, his lips only inches from mine, Orion revealed, "Stanley believes that you might be the person he has been relentlessly searching for, for the past nine years," Orion chuckled. "He has also forgotten who you are."

Orion's presence overwhelmed me, rendering me speechless, despite the multitude of questions swirling in my mind.

"Stan wants to ask you a few questions, but I'm sure you don't have the answer to his questions, so I dismissed him," Orion said, moving his face closer to mine.

This time, I couldn't bear it. I moved back, and as a result, I fell onto the bed behind me and sat down involuntarily. Orion crouched down and gently grabbed my palms, his intense eyes piercing into mine.

"Let's go to the sky lounge," he suggested, but I shook my head. I couldn't handle any more strange behavior from his friends.

"Are you still scared?" he asked, a smile creeping onto his lips as he gazed at me.

"I...just arrived. I… need to unpack my luggage," I murmured, feeling overwhelmed by the situation. Orion leaned closer and held my head firmly.

"I'll see you tonight. Please, stay awake, Lia. Tonight is a night of double celebration and we are going to make beautiful memories," Orion whispered softly, his words caressing my ear. The warmth in his voice ignited a longing within me.

As I watched him walking towards the door, I couldn't help but take in his striking appearance. Orion was undeniably handsome, with his chiseled features and confident demeanor. He carried himself with such grace and poise that it was impossible not to be captivated by him. My heart fluttered as I admired his charm, and I couldn't deny the strong attraction I felt towards him.

However, I realized that it was important for me to proceed with caution until I discovered who Stanley Morgan truly was and why he believed I resembled a girl he had been searching for all this time. So, I got up from the bed and walked into the spacious walk-in closet to unpack my bag. As I did so, the omegas who had left the room earlier joined me and kindly offered their assistance.

"I'm Aria," one of the girls introduced herself, followed by the others saying, "I'm Lila," and "I'm Piper."

Before I had a chance to introduce myself, they chimed in, "And you're the boss's wife." Their tone was playful, and they giggled amongst themselves. The room fell silent as they began organizing my belongings.

With curiosity now getting the better of me, I broke the silence and asked, "Who exactly is Stanley Morgan?" The three girls exchanged glances, and Piper stepped forward to answer.

"Stan Morgan is the only son of Russell Morgan. His father holds the title of the Lord of the Alphas. He's the one who arrived with that private helicopter," Piper explained, pointing towards the white aircraft visible through the closet window.

I pondered for a moment before admitting, "I've heard of the Alpha of Alphas, but I've never come across the term Lord of the Alphas."

"Well, Russell Morgan may not be as actively involved as Alpha Alex, the Alpha of Alphas. However, both of them hold equal power over all the werewolves and oversee our affairs."

"Thank you, girls," I said when they were done. The girls just smiled and began to head towards the exit.

"Piper," I called out as the girls were about to leave the room. The other two girls continued walking out while Piper stayed back, with a curious expression on her face.

"I want to ask you a few questions. I hope you'll answer me," I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

"I will," she assured me, glancing at the door to make sure no one was close.

"Is there anything I need to know about your boss?" I asked, my voice steady.

"He is a gynecologist," Piper replied.

"That's the only thing he does?" I probed further, my curiosity piqued.

"Yes," she responded, "though there seemed to be more to the story," she added with a hushed tone.

"How did he acquire the funds to build these enormous mansions?" I questioned as my intrigue continued growing. Piper shifted her gaze towards the door again, before turning her attention back to me.

"According to one of Dr. Orion's bodyguards, Orion has an illegal secret business that he conducts in a hidden chamber every Saturday with a strange woman. It's this business that brings in all the money," Piper whispered, and as I gasped in shock, she quickly covered my lips with her hand.

"This is a secret you must keep to yourself. Do not speak of it to anyone," Piper murmured urgently.

"Thank you," I managed to smile, though deep down, confusion and fear swirled within me. Orion didn't seem like someone who would be involved in illegal activities, but I couldn't fully trust him. After all, he didn't resemble a typical werewolf, even though he was one.

"If I am to remain married to him, I must uncover the truth about his secret illegal business and convince him to put an end to it," I murmured to myself, determined to dig deeper into this mystery.

"One more thing," Piper said, already making her way towards the door. I turned my head to listen.

"Our boss may appear tough, but he often cracks jokes with a serious face," Piper said with a smile. However, my mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the secretive illegal business he conducted, so I didn't find Piper's comment amusing.

As I sat on the large bed, deep in thought about what Piper had said, a black device resembling a remote control began to beep. Intrigued, I pressed the green button and the door to my room swung open, revealing a lady standing in the corridor. I immediately recognized her as the elegantly dressed woman I had seen with Stan Morgan earlier.

"Stan Morgan wishes to see you. He says it's extremely urgent," the lady whispered.

Uncertain, I inquired, "Is Orion aware?"

"Who?" The lady grimaced.

"Orion."

"Who is Orion?" She asked me and I became confused.

"I'm not certain," she responded.

"I don't want to see him then," I muttered with a slight shrug. The door closed in response, though I was unaware of the exact action I had taken with the remote-like device I held in my hand that made the door close violently.

At that moment, I simply didn't care if Stan Morgan was Jordan. Jordan had broken his promise to find me, and my heart ached with a wave of nostalgia. Jordan and I could have been amazing together, but I understood that Kayla was his destined mate and he must be with his mate.

I even like Orion more than Jordan now. But why did Stan's girlfriend pretend she did not know who Orion is? I asked myself.

Suddenly, the door swung open once more, interrupting my melancholy. Orion entered the room, his surprised gaze fixed upon me as he started to unbutton his shirt with one hand.
