Ruby lived in the city of Zone, a place where the night was filled with party lights and the day was bustling with activity. He had only one goal in mind: to live peacefully with his family, his wife, and not worry about financial problems.
*Knock knock*
It was a rainy night when Ruby arrived home, soaked to the bone. He had to make a delivery, since he was assigned the night shift. As he entered his small house, he saw that the lights were off, except for a faint glow near the front door. There, he found his wife sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall. She had been waiting for him to come back. Ruby's heart fluttered and he felt a surge of love for his beautiful and amazing wife. He gently picked her up and carried her to their bed. He tucked her in with a blanket and kissed her forehead. She smiled in her sleep and murmured his name.
Ruby was about to change his clothes when his phone buzzed. It was a text message from his boss, asking him to deliver one more package to an anonymous client. Ruby groaned inwardly. Why did he have to do it? He was tired and hungry, and he wanted to cuddle with his wife. But then he saw the pay: 300 dollars. Ruby's eyes widened in shock. That was a lot of money for one delivery. He could use it to pay off some of his debt. He had borrowed 1,000 dollars from a loan shark, and he was running out of time to repay it. He sighed and decided to take the job. He hoped it would be worth it.
Ruby sighed and texted his boss that he would come and get the package. But the boss replied by saying that the package was already at a hotel called "Leux". He just needed to go to the receptionist and say "package of moth". Ruby was a bit confused, but he didn't ask any further questions. He didn't want to risk losing that bonus.
He kissed his wife on the forehead one last time before heading out. He put on a coat and grabbed his helmet. As he was driving his motorcycle to the hotel, he saw a lot of luxurious cars in the parking lot. He admired them for a moment, wondering who owned them and what they were doing here. He shook his head and entered the hotel.
The hotel lobby was elegant and spacious, with chandeliers and marble floors. Ruby felt out of place in his wet clothes and shabby coat. He approached the receptionist, a young woman with blonde hair and a polite smile.
"Uh, is there a package called moth?" he asked nervously.
The receptionist looked at him for a second, as if she was scanning him for something. Ruby felt his heart beat faster. Did he do something wrong?
But then the receptionist nodded and said, "Right away, sir." She reached under the counter and handed him a medium-sized box. It was quite heavy for its size. Ruby took it and thanked her. He didn't dare to ask what was inside.
He went back to his motorcycle and strapped the box on the back. He checked his phone to see the destination. It was a skyscraper in the center of Zone, a place where the rich and powerful lived and worked. Ruby frowned. (Why would someone send such a mysterious package to such a place? And why did they choose me to deliver it?.... TwT)
He shrugged and started his engine. He had no time to waste. He had to deliver the package as soon as possible, and then go back to his wife.
Ruby sighed and started his motorcycle. He had to go. He drove through the rain, feeling uneasy. The road was slippery and the traffic was chaotic. He decided to be careful.
But he glanced at his phone, which showed him the route and the time. He saw a notification pop up: "Deliver in 20 mins."
"What? Why? That's impossible! Ugh... I guess I have to speed up a bit..."
He was slowly getting faster, hoping to make it in time. But as he did, he felt his front wheels wobble. He had lost control of his motorcycle. He was heading straight for a stop pole.
"Whoa! Whoa! Agh! Stop! Stop! Stop!"
He quickly use the brakes, hoping to avoid a crash. He skidded to a halt, just inches away from the pole. His heart was pounding in his chest. He could have been seriously injured or even killed if he had hit it.
He breathed a sigh of relief.
Ruby had a determined face as he backed up his motorcycle a little bit and then revved the engine again. He was not going to give up so easily. He had a bonus to earn.
"Hah… I will get that bonus!" he exclaimed, feeling confident.
But just as he was about to speed off, a beam of light appeared beside him and a car came crashing into him, sending him flying off his bike.
