Steeling himself as he limped forward through the police station Brodie walked into the police captains office. Staring down the grey balding officer he sat down in the chair facing him. "Can I help you boy?" he said with a derisory sneer. Brodie stared back at him and grinned.
"That's sir to you, I'm gonna assume you don't get out much, I'm the Duchesses son. You work for the city of Burk and that makes you my bitch right now" Brodie said to a visibly flabbergasted captain.
"Boy what in the hell did you just say to-" "It's sir!" Brodie said interrupting as he slammer his hands on the table as he winced getting to his feet.
"I am royalty, this nation belongs to my family. You have no fucking clue what I've had to go through to get here, the rocks those bigots threw at me were nothing compared to the sadness we experienced down there. Why? Cause my dad happens to be a little different? Fuck that I am a Luxen, I am Luxen royalty and you will treat as such" he continued standing over the captain.
"Yes sir" the captain replied sneering as he sunk in his seat. "Good, now why is there an innocent Jaran in custody?" Brodie asked as he looked out the office window trying to find the cell. "Innocent?! Look ki- sir we have photos of him standing over a Luxen. There's people out on that street baying for his blood" the captain replied.
"You mean the violent mob that pelted me with rocks. They aren't after him they're after every Jaran. Did you even ask him what happened?" Brodie asked probingly.
"Yeah according to him he was with his girlfriend and the boy was following them down the street and he didn't even hit him just let him tire himself out" the captain said snarkily. "You hear how absurd that sounds right?" he asked raising an eyebrow to Brodie.
"Not if you knew him. One second" Brodie said as he stood up out his seat and walked to the door. "Flynn" he said poking his head out the door to the waiting area. "Yes sir" Flynn said poping up to his feet and scurrying over to Brodie. "Got it yet?" Brodie said looking at Flynn then the phone.
"N...no sir" Flynn said shaking his head unable to make eye contact with Brodie. "Wait what?" Brodie said as a pit grew in his stomach. "Um yeah I'm not seeing anything about him not being guilty it's all-" a beeping sound interrupted Flynn.
"The fuck is so important, this is urgent!" Brodie said in a panic. "So is this, sir this is your answer. Someone on here just commented I'm sick of the propaganda and bullshit hate you bigots are throwing at a kid. Here's the truth-" Brodie grabbed Flynn by the arm and yanked him into the room.
"Read it to him!" Brodie shouted at Flynn pointing to the captain. "Um yeah okay. Someone named Cole just said I'm sick of the propaganda and bullshit hate you bigots threw at a kid here's the truth. He put a link to something under the comment" Flynn said as he waited for the link to load up.
Standing over his shoulder Brodie watched intently as the video played showing Cole harassing Rue and Kosi as he then threw his phone to someone he referred to as Claudio. "Alright you wanted your proof here it is" Brodie said excitedly to the captain as he gestured to Flynn to show him the video.
Watching it the captain visibly shrunk in his seat as he watched Kosi keep his hands down and Cole punch and trip his way to the floor.
As the video ended he looked up to a smug Brodie and shook his head. "Fine, your friend can leave once we find and process the kid in this video" the captain said looking at his paperwork. "What, oh how longs that going to take. No he's leaving with me now" Brodie replied.
"That's not how this works-" "Well it is now get him out right now before I call the princess. My mom doesn't seem to scare you but you sure you wanna tell the woman who's going to be queen someday that you said no to her nephew" Brodie said with a wide grin.
"Fine" the captain said in an exhausted tone. Calling through to the holding cell officer he ordered Kosis immediate release.
Minutes later a bruised Kosi was waiting in the hallway. "The fuck is this?!" Brodie shouted when he saw Kosis bruised wrists and forehead bump. Looking up at the irate Brodie the captain shrugged. "Sorry he was resisting arrest my officers have he right to use whatever force they deem necessary" the captain replied.
Staringna hole through him Brodie turned around and walked. "Kosi, Flynn we're leaving" he said in an irate tone.
Back in the car Kosi looked at Brodie. "Thanks bro, I had no idea how I was getting out there-" "Dammit Kosi why's it always you!" Brodie shouted.
Stunned silent Kosi looked back at him mouth agape. "I can't have one day to get used to my new life without you ending up in jail or some shit. Please do me a favor and just lay low just don't have a bit of drama for a bit. Go sign up for the military, help them win the war, we get some peace in this shit and that's that" Brodie said authoritatively. "The fuck?" Kosi replied.
