At the government building Captain Williams was sitting in his office reclining and beginning to nod off. His peaceful and soothing silence was interrupted by the sound of trampling footsteps and militant chants.
"What we gonna do??" "Chase the skies!". "What we gonna do!?" "Chase the skies!" echoed the obnoxious chant as Brodie, Willow and Jude ran past the street. Looking out his window he watched them run by. "There's more of them now?" he mutteted in confusion. As far as he was aware Kosi was the only person Brodie had gotten to participate in the trails with him.
Turning to his intercom he paged through to his assistant. "Get in here now I need something" he said in an urgent tone. Moments later in walked Elise looking nervously towards him. "Yes sir?" she muttered in a quiet tone.
"Come over here" he said waving her over to the window. "Yes sir" she said nervously walking towards him.
"You're a teenager right?" he asked frazzled. "Mhm yes sir" she replied. "Alright! who are those two out there with that one in front" he said pointing to Brodie. "Oh the girl's named Willow and the guy's named Jude" she replied.
Walking away from the window he stood in the center of the room looking down and contemplating. His head suddenly shot up as he looked directly at Elise. "Now, you're friends with the deputy mayor's daughter how well do you know those two out there?" he asked pointedly.
"Oh they're my classmates but I don't really know them that well they're more so with Rue and Kosi I don't really hang out with them" she replied matter of factly with a smile. "Alright get me their profiles" he said as he circled back to his desk.
He sat at his chair as Elise left. "Alright so she's clearly with them" he muttered to himself with his head in his hands. "Why get her to volunteer her here though, intel on what the trails are so they can cheat? Why rope in those two though" he asked out loud as he rocked in his office chair.
Moments later Elise walked back in with Willow and Judes profiles. Handing them to Captain Williams she turned to leave before he spoke. "Oh before you go please consider acting lessons. Tell your friends I want to see them in my office end of working day today" he spoke stoically. "Yes sir" was all Elise said in response shakily as she left the room.
Later at Kosis apartment everyone else was sat around talking about nothing I particular. "Giraffes don't exist!" Kosi said dismissively. "Yeah of course they do why else would we know about them" Willow replied with a laugh.
"Because they're like those myth ones, babe what were those called?" he trailed into a question towards Rue. "Mythological creatures" she replied bemused at the conversation. "Yeah those, they don't make sense. So something is that skinny with a long neck and it's not falling over all the time. Haha come on that doesn't make sense!" he added with a chuckle.
"He might be right" Jude said in between bites of food. "What? No. Ok yeah there's mythological ones but those are mythological, we know that already why would we get this one wrong?" she asked.
"I think I'm with Willow on this one" Brodie said reluctantly. "Yes he has a brain" Willow replied enthusiastically. "Nooo bro why?" Kosi asked dramatically.
"Because why lie about that one that's a boring animal to pick if you're lying, oh it's really tall that's it. Say they shoot lasers or something cool" he responded with a shrug. "That's insane but ill take it cause he said I'm right" Willow said giggling.
Just then Elise walked in. "Alright so none of you knock what's with that!" Kosi said. "Hush love" Rue replied.
"So how'd it go agent El" Jude said mockingly as made room for her on the couch. "Oh he figured me out right away" she replied with a laugh flopping down next to Jude. "He thinks he's so smart going 'oh you need acting lessons' meh meh meh" she said rolling her eyes.
"Well now what?" Jude asked. "Well now we let him panic till he comes up with an idea" Rue replied. "Oh no! Wait actually he said wanted to see you guys today" Elise said springing up.
"Oh alright let's head out" Jude said standing. "Alright see you guys later I guess" Kosi said gingerly rising to his feet to head to his room. "No you come with, leave your crutches outside the room though" Rue replied handing him his crutches.
Later that day Kosi, Rue, Willow Jude, Elise and Brodie were outside the government building. "Alright Jude you hide these around the corner" Kosi said handing him his crutches.
Inside the building they walked into the office with a false front of confidence. "You. Sit" Captain Williams said looking at Brodie. "Oh" he replied taking a seat. "How can I help you captain" he continued with a wide grin.
"Well I know you got in his head telling him to conspire with you to try getting in the trails. The deal was he doesn't finish in the top half you both don't get in so why are you trying adding people to the cause hmm?" Capt Williams asked.
"Why don't you tell me what you think" Brodie replied maintaining a smile. "He's looking well, no crutches" Captain Williams replied pointing at Kosi.
"So what? You saying we exaggerated Kosi being hurt and got two of our friends to join in so he can finish ahead of them. That's absurd and besides how could you possibly prove any of this" he said with a chuckle.
"Nope deals off" Captain Williams replied looking at them all smugly grinning. "Nope you made a deal with them you have to honor it" Rue replied. "Yeah a deals a deal captain" Jude added.
"All of you out" Captain Williams said pointing them towards the door. "Aww alright great seeing you again sir see you in a week" Kosi said as they headed out.
Letting out a groan Captain Williams sunk into his seat sat with his head in his hands. "What did I get myself into" he said in an exhausted tone.
