Evelina felt both anxious and resentful, unable to speak due to Bella Scott's accusation. She stomped her foot and looked at Wayne Adams, "Wayne, you were with me before; you need to testify for me. I'm not the kind of woman they say I am."
"Of course, you're not…" Wayne had barely opened his mouth when he was suddenly silenced by three pairs of glaring eyes.
Bella Scott laughed softly, "So, you're implying that Cecelia is lying? It's understandable that you don't believe me and Edward Anderson, but you don't even trust your own wife, and instead, you trust a stranger?"
Wayne's face turned red from anxiety, and he hurriedly defended himself, "No, that's not what I meant. How could I not believe Cecelia?"
"From my perspective, that's exactly what you just implied. Little Cecelia, take this chance to leave this man. Today he trusts a stranger over his own wife, who knows what he might do next time someone tries to provoke him — "
