The two men locked eyes and silently sized each other up.

Edward gave way, saying, "A guest should be welcomed."
His words prompted a sidelong glance from Snow: "Bella is now my girlfriend!"
Now that it was official, it would be up to him whether or not Edward could continue interfering.
