In the end, the old man's funeral was simple. The attendees were mostly neighbors who felt relieved to see Bella Scott and Brynn Williams together.
"I remember when you were young, always running up and down the street. Once, you two played a prank and hid my cat. In the blink of an eye, you've both grown up. Thankfully, your friendship hasn't been affected by any bad news online." The neighbor said earnestly, "Brynn, your grandmother can rest in peace now."
When the other mourners left, only Bella Scott and Brynn Williams remained in front of the tombstone.
Neither of them spoke, or rather, they didn't know what to say. They had spent much of the past three days together, but often found they had nothing to say, just like now.
Bella felt that some things, once lost, could never be recovered, no matter how hard one tried.
Still lost in thought on their way down the hill, Brynn stopped her, "You can stay at my place tonight, and we'll go to the set together tomorrow."
