Bella Scott didn't respond.
From the initial disappointment in Edward Anderson to the numbness later on, she had finally decided to confront him and divorce.
In essence, he hadn't done anything to hurt her, at most he had stifled her affection and excitement for him in its infancy.
"I've thought about whether or not I should let you be free. But in the end, I couldn't bear to do it. Bella, have I ever told you that I really like you?"
Bella stared at Edward, dumbfounded, wondering what he meant by liking her. Was it the kind of like she understood?
"What's the use of you liking me? I don't like you anyway!" Bella's voice was dismissive.
Did Edward think that by saying he liked her, she would be so grateful that she'd burst into tears? She'd let him know now that she didn't care at all about his affections anymore.
Hearing Bella's words, a faint smile appeared on Edward's lips: "In the future, I'll perform well and try to make you like me too, okay?"
