On the other end of the phone, Edward Anderson was silent. Kallie took a deep breath, speaking softly and tenderly, "I haven't been back to my home country for so many years, and I just wanted to see you. I have no other intentions. My sister won't know about us meeting, and I'm not trying to steal you from her. I simply want to meet with you, even if we don't speak. Isn't that a reasonable request?"
When she was abroad, she didn't feel as emotionally affected. But the moment she returned to Philadelphia, and realized she was in the same city as him, she couldn't hold back her love for him.
So many years had passed, but she still couldn't forget him. Rather than saying she rushed back to the country because of the situation at home, it would be more accurate to say she returned for Edward.
