Bella composed herself, pulled Cecelia behind her, and asked with a sneer, "Are you sure you want to be engaged to Cecelia? What about the woman you love? Where have you placed her? I've heard that Mr. Tariq Lane is a devoted man who pursued a woman abroad, disappearing for several years!"
There's no way Tariq could truly want to marry Cecelia unless it's to take revenge on Edward Anderson and gain a sense of accomplishment by seeing Edward powerless.
"I indeed have someone I love, but she doesn't love me. Since that's the case, why shouldn't I be a responsible man?" Tariq slowly approached Cecelia, took her hand, and said softly, "Cecelia, I hope you can give me this chance to take care of you and the child."
Cecelia, overwhelmed with joy, nodded vigorously, "Of course, I'm willing."
