Paul Edwards didn't expect Thomas Smith to refuse such a large sum of money so adamantly. He shook his head, his voice hoarse and throat full of phlegm, as if he had been rubbing sandpaper on it.
"How... how can you not accept it?"
"It's fine," Thomas felt it was simple and smiled. "I live with Mom and Dad from the Thomson family, so I don't need that much money."
"Silly child..." The reason for giving him that amount of money was precisely because he lived with the Thomson family. Paul knew Avery Clark's personality well. Although the Thomson family wasn't the type to despise the poor and love the rich, Avery certainly was. If Thomas were to mooch off them without contributing anything, he wouldn't last long.
