Thinking back to the past, when Tommy was scolded outside for being a fatherless wild-child, he would cry to her back then. Now, though, he wouldn't even tell her about things like this!
No wonder he always looked cautious in the Thomson family. Although the adults didn't say anything, their actions left many shadows in his heart.

Emma Smith simply could not believe it: "Why... Why didn't he tell me?"
Just as she said this, she closed her mouth.
Did she even need to ask? Tommy knew that his mom had just given birth to his sister, and that their family was living in the Thomson household.
She could hardly take care of herself, let alone him, and it wasn't the first time they had argued over him.
He didn't want... to be a burden for his mother!
In Oliver's shallow eyes flashed many questions. In the end, he went over and tugged at Emma's clothes: "Auntie, now that you have my little sister, do you not want Tommy anymore? Can you please not abandon him?"
