Little one gave a couple of "Hmm" responses and squinted, tightly guarding her food but eventually fell asleep.
Robert Thomson played with Little Lucky for a while and then, remembering something, said, "Emma, tomorrow..."
"I've thought about it," Emma Smith tucked her daughter in, "Let's get married."
Robert Thomson didn't expect Emma Smith to agree to his request so quickly; it was a bit strange, "Emma, what happened?"
"I just went home," Emma Smith quietly spoke while coaxing her daughter to sleep, "She locked me in the bedroom. Put a lock on the outside. If you didn't have a hidden door in the wardrobe, maybe I wouldn't have been able to come to see you..."
"What did you say?" Robert Thomson was dumbstruck. After astonishment came anger!
"Your mother! How could she be so outrageous! I'm going to confront her!" Robert Thomson stood up, but Emma Smith grabbed his arm.
She shook her head and sighed, "Forget it."
