Sure enough, Robert Thomson's words frightened Mrs. Smith!
Did he mean that he was going to take Emma Smith and Little Lucky away, leaving her behind without a care?
"What gives you the right to say that!" She was furious, "Emma is my daughter!"
"When you kicked her out of the house five years ago, you certainly didn't treat her like your daughter!" Robert's expression was indifferent as he hit the nail on the head. "In fact, I should thank you. If you hadn't kicked Emma out back then, she wouldn't have had to resort to sleeping with me to raise funds for Tommy's medical treatment. You're practically the matchmaker for Emma and me!"
Mrs. Smith was so shocked by his words that she was speechless for quite some time! The biggest regret of her life was kicking her daughter out of the house because of her hatred for Cynthia Smith and venting her anger on baby Thomas.
