"If you really love this child," Robert Thomson began to cajole, "then you must make up for it in the future; treasure her like a gem in your heart. Do you understand?"
He was a bit concerned, knowing that he might be ruthlessly outranked by Tommy in her heart. But his little daughter must always be her number one!
What Robert didn't know then, was that if he had not said this, perhaps there wouldn't be a terrible little devil in the Thomson family years later. When he thought of those words he spoke that night, he would regret it!
If he had known what kind of troublemaker his daughter would become, he would never have let Emma Smith dote on her so much! This led to Little Thomson causing a major uproar in the family later, and when he wanted to discipline her, Emma always stopped him.
