Thomas will of course still be the Edwards' child in the future, and if the Edwards get along well with him, it wouldn't matter if he lived with them for a while.
However, Thomas's sudden actions were something that Emma really couldn't accept!

Paul Edwards still had a smile on his face, "Mrs. Smith, I do know about your kindness to Tommy. I have also heard a bit about your relationship with Mason and Tommy's mom. To be honest, I am quite surprised at how well you treat Tommy."
Clearly, he was implying that Emma had ulterior motives!
