Paul Edwards looked startled: "Really?"
Aren't stepmothers notoriously evil?
Thomas Smith nodded vigorously with his little head: "Of course, it's true." Being young, he couldn't express his feelings very well, so he could only use his nodding action to convey his certainty.
Olivia Edwards asked: "So you knew your mom is not your biological mom?"
He lowered his head when answering, thought about it for a while, and said: "Yes, I know."
Seeing the child's slightly aggrieved expression, Paul thought he was a little upset. Paul felt a sudden softness in his heart: "Is it because she now loves the child in her belly more and ignores our little Tommy?"
Thomas shook his head: "Mom still loves me very much."
This was, in part, thanks to the friction between him and Robert Thomson recently when they lived together. He had been afraid, confused, and worried about whether his mom would stop loving him when she had a new brother and Uncle Thomson.
