Emma Smith was overjoyed. For so many years, all she had hoped for was to reconcile with her mother!
For this, all the hardships she had endured during her hospitalization didn't matter!
However: "Mom, I still need to go back first."
Noticing Mrs. Smith's furrowed brows, Emma just smiled: "I need to pack up first, right?"
Mrs. Smith nodded, and the car drove to Emma's current residence.
Emma lived on the first floor. She had chosen it specifically because she was worried that going up and down the stairs would be inconvenient during her pregnancy. However, the first floor also meant it was somewhat dark and damp. The one-bedroom apartment was tidy, but Mrs. Smith only had one expression as she stood there - a frown.
"How can you live here?" She expressed dissatisfaction, "It's so cold now, and there's not even an air conditioner!"
