Andrew Lee stood behind her, watching her make a phone call. When she turned around, the exhaustion, fear, and pain that had seemed like a bottomless chasm at the top of a mountain had vanished from her eyes.
Just moments ago, she looked utterly drained. Yet, after that call, she seemed much more composed.
He knew that this man must be Emma Smith's man!
Though he didn't want to admit it, he saw how her expression changed from panic to calmness.
If this wasn't love, he had no idea how to explain such feelings.
His hand slowly clenched and after a long while, he managed to squeeze out a seemingly gentle expression: "You... have something going on? He came looking for you again?"
Emma shook her head: "No."
On the other side, Andrew finally unclenched his fist, "Let's go see Tommy."
She nodded and accompanied Andrew to the ward.
Outside the ward, Dr. Edwards observed their interactions, frowning. He had sharp hearing and could tell that the man on the phone was a young man.
