The beginning of summer was approaching, and although the lavender had not yet bloomed, a faint fragrance swayed in the breeze wherever it passed.
With just one glance, Emma Smith understood that this was the place where Robert Thomson intended to spend the night with her.
The corner of her mouth curled up in a faintly mocking smile. He certainly was a man who valued ambiance, even choosing such a secluded room for their stay.
She deliberately feigned astonishment, as if seeing such a magnificent scene for the first time, and nervously asked, "Robert? Where is this?"
Robert's eyes flickered as he looked at Emma, whose expression seemed to shimmer with excitement. He wondered whether her reaction was genuine or feigned. "Do you like it here?" he asked softly.
Her response was an immediate sweet smile: "Of course, it's so beautiful here!"
"Hmm, since you like it, let's go inside and take a look!"
