Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Secretary's Principles (2)_1

It is said that Emma Smith had some murky dealings with some outside partners to secure high-profit deals.

Moreover, after Mia Garcia became the manager of the Electronic Sales Department, she would often target Emma Smith for no good reason.

Whenever Emma successfully negotiated a big deal, Mia would surely take the credit. As for difficult clients, Mia always sent Emma to deal with them.

At least, Mr. Johnson from PRAG Enterprise yesterday was assigned to Emma because he was known to be stingy and lecherous.

If not for the generous pay from Thomson Group, Emma Smith wouldn't have needed to stay here and put up with Mia's attitude.

But even so, Emma wouldn't let herself be pushed around so easily!

Sure enough, when Mia Garcia heard Emma's questioning tone, her face turned red and her voice rose several octaves: "Emma Smith, what kind of attitude is this! Aren't you afraid that I'll give you a C in the next department assessment?"

Thomson Group has an employee evaluation every six months, divided into ABC grades. A is excellent, B is good, and C is failing.

Getting two consecutive Cs would result in a polite "suggestion to leave" from the company.

Unexpectedly, Emma Smith didn't even lift her head, much less give Mia a glance.

The entire office was silent, no one dared to speak.

Mia Garcia didn't expect Emma to "ignore" her like this, leaving her breathless and extremely uncomfortable.

Just as Mia's finger was about to poke Emma's forehead, a phone call came in. The ringing was harsh, but no one dared to answer it.

After a while, a subordinate shakily answered: "Hello—"

"Put your deputy manager on the phone!"

The subordinate looked at the two in the center of the tense situation: "M-Mrs. Smith, someone's looking for you."

Emma, who was just half-alive, slowly stood up. Mia Garcia still stood beside her but Emma didn't even lift her eyes, snappily saying, "Good dogs don't stand in the way."

"You!—" Mia wanted to argue with her but Emma had already walked to the phone and answered, "Hello, this is Emma Smith."

A clear voice came from the other end of the line: "What took you so long! Is this your efficiency?"

Emma paused, recognizing the voice on the other end. She immediately nodded: "Yes, I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Emma didn't even spare Mia a glance as she returned to her seat. She packed up her things quickly using just a tote bag.

—Could this be the precursor to Emma Smith resigning?

Mia Garcia's eyes were about to pop out, and she didn't snap out of it even when Emma had packed all her belongings and was about to leave the office.

"Wait!" She shrieked, "Emma Smith, do you really think I don't dare fire you? You've ruined the company's reputation with these shady dealings and now you just want to leave without facing the consequences? You really have no shame!"

Unexpectedly, her scolding escalated to even more vile language, and Emma Smith finally couldn't hold back anymore! She suddenly stood up, threw a file folder from her desk at Mia Garcia: "Mia Garcia, you slept with the director to get your manager position, so stop pretending!"

Papers from the folder scattered everywhere, reflecting against her pale face.

"You, you..." Mia Garcia extended her hand, her fingernails painted a bright red, and pointed at Emma's face, but couldn't muster a complete sentence.
