The next morning Kaiden woke up with a purpose, he would get a job. But where would he get a job?
He didn't have any credentials to present, the only skills he had was weapon making. But who would employ him without spiritual energy.
He decided to go to his company to look for a job, he would accept any job available as long as it would give him a way to meet Jonathan.
He ate breakfast, dressed up and headed to the company.
He took a cab which stopped in front of the company.
He paid the driver and entered the company and made his way to the production section.
As Kaiden walked, he could feel the energy on the grounds welcoming him back.
He stopped in front of the production section and approached one of the workers.
"Good morning Sir." he greeted the worker.
"Yes, good morning, how may I help you?" the man asked.
"I was wondering if there was a job vacancy. I am looking for a job."
"We don't have any vacancy, everywhere is filled." the man replied.
"Please! I can do any work at all. I just really need a job."
The worker looked at him like he was daft.
"Didn't you hear me? There is no vacancy here. Try other companies."
"I have gone everywhere, this is my last resort, there must be a way to help me." Kaiden pleased, he held on to the man's arm.
The man tried to shake him off. "Let go of me, there is no vacancy here." he insisted.
"Please sir, you have to help me."
"Let me go."
The both of them were creating a ruckus which attracted the other workers.
"What's going on here?" someone asked, the worker and Kaiden paused their scuffle to look at the newcomer.
"Mr Jasper, this young man came here looking for a job, I told him there was no vacancy yet he refused to listen." the worker explained.
Kaiden looked at the newcomer, he recognized him. It was Jasper Graham, Jonathan's weird younger brother. When they were growing up, he constantly tried to hang out with them but they normally avoided him. Now, he seemed to be in charge here.
Kaiden swallowed his already depleting pride and ran to Jasper instead, he held on to his arm, "please, you have to help me sir, I really need a job." he pleaded with him.
"Hey! Let go of the boss!" the worker tried to pull Kaiden away but he clinged on to Jasper and refused to let go.
"It's okay, I will handle this. Go back to work everyone." Jasper said as he waved them away.
He turned to Kaiden who was still clinging on to him.
"Why not come to my office with me, okay?" he told him gently.
"You will give me a job?" Kaiden asked hopefully.
"I will see what I can do." Jasper replied.
Kaiden let go of him doubtfully.
"This way." Jasper gestured as he walked to his office.
When they passed the production plant, Jasper could hear it humming slowly, he could feel its familiar and welcoming energy.
'Soon, I will be powerful again and you will work' he promised it inwardly in his mind.
They got to Jasper's office. "Please sit down." Jasper said.
"Thanks." Kaiden said as he sat down.
"So, you said you need a job?" Jasper asked.
"Yes, I need a job." Kaiden replied.
"What can you do, what are your qualifications? What is your spiritual energy level?" Jasper asked.
Kaiden suddenly realized that in all his urgency, he hadn't thought about the fact that he had no qualifications. He couldn't just say that he was the owner of the company, could he?
He decided to be honest, after all, honesty was the best policy.
"I have no qualifications." he admitted.
"No qualifications? What about your spiritual energy level?" Jasper asked.
"It's also very low."
"I am afraid I don't understand you, did you come here to make jokes?" Jasper asked.
Kaiden knew it was time to give a very convincing lie.
"I wasn't born in the city, I was brought here by my aunt and uncle who didn't bother to train my spiritual energy level. I just recently left them, that's why I have no qualifications or spiritual energy level. That's why I really need this job to make ends meet." he told Jasper.
Jasper looked at him thoughtfully while Kaiden tried to make his face look very convincing.
"But what can you do exactly? We make high level spiritual weapons and tools. Your energy level is too weak to handle the materials or production process. Neither do you have any qualifications to handle the administrative processes. Can you go on errands?" he asked Kaiden.
"Yes, I can go on any errands you send me on" he answered quickly.
"Okay, that's what you will do. You will go on errands for me then, you will be my assistant. Can you do that?"
"Yes sir, I can do that." Kaiden answered quickly.
"Okay, you are hired. Your pay will be a thousand gold coins per week. Is that okay?"
"Yes, that's very okay."
"Okay then. You have to come early to work though and go on any errand quickly. Do not enter any restricted area. And avoid the production areas so you don't get hurt by the high energy levels. Understood?"
"Yes sir." Kaiden said.
"Can you start today?"
"Yes, I can start today."
"Good! Come with me to get your ID card and uniform." he told Kaiden.
Kaiden followed him obediently. He gave him a uniform from the lockers.
"Thank you sir." Kaiden said as he took the uniform.
"Enough with the thank yous. What's is your name so I can put it on your ID card."
"Oh! My name is Kai West."
"Its good to meet you Kai West, I am Jasper Graham. I hope you enjoy working here." Jasper said as he placed the ID card around Kaiden's neck.
