Nera looked at the obstacles on the track.
She noticed that it was way different than she had imagined. It was a lot more like a long military obstacle course combined with a television show-esque style of absurdness rather than a simple agility test.
'As expected of this world's standards. I was expecting something as simple as the hexagonal obstacle test or the Illinois agility test. I may have forgotten how naturally strong people here are.'
This part of the test is considered easy to pass through. Having 80% on a test in this whole exam was hard, but on the body test, it was extremely easy for the rest. A lot get 90%, even to 100%. The weakest ones would get 75% but that's not something anyone can be ashamed of in this world.
Something about that fact irked Nera.
Because even the best-trained athletes back in Jessica's world would have a hard time if they were to try the course in front of Nera.
"Hello, everyone. I am assigned to guide you through the agility test. Please listen well as I will only explain this once to every 10 people." Noah spoke.
Nera's mouth gaped as she saw her brother as serious, shown in his expression and tone in his voice. Pursing her lips, holding back a burst of laughter.
It was probably going to be the hardest challenge she must face this day.
"Numbers 50 to 59, please step forward and follow me." Noah raised and gestured his hand towards the track.
"Your brother is really handsome, Lady Ponterise," Ren whispered to Nera. Gerald heard his friend talk and he nodded. "How can someone be that talented and be so attractive?" He continued.
Nera wanted to laugh even more.
She wanted to laugh so hard, but her willpower was strong enough to go against it.
'I really need to talk to more people. I forget that other people have different perspectives on things.'
"Yeah, I guess."
"Lady Ponterise's used to it because she's seen his face every day," Rosa shrugged.
"Where did you suddenly come from?" Dianne slightly slapped her back.
"Ah! That hurt!" Rosa shouted.
"Please be quiet now," Noah stopped walking as the rest followed suit. He looked at the tablet he was holding then stared back at the bunch. "This track consists of 10 obstacles."
'Wait, wouldn't he have heard them talk? This guy's ego is going to get bigger.' Nera scoffed.
Noah walked to the side of the track while he spoke, and the 10 people followed.
"There are at least 20 meters to run before each obstacle. The first obstacle is the hurdles. Simple, you will jump on 10 hurdles."
The hurdles were thin earth blocks, higher than an average man's hip height.
"Second, pole vaulting, jump on the other side with the pole."
There was a gap on the ground, about 5 meters long and deep with a bar.
"Third, rock climbing, climb the wall with the help of the rocks, and do the same at the other side."
10-meter-high wall with bumps of rock all around it.
"This looks really fun," Ren spoke and Gerald nodded.
"We can play around with this one at least." Rosa chuckled.
While they were chatting away, Nera was just in awe looking at the next obstacles in the course.
"Fourth, hanging bars, hold and swing to the bars while not falling to the water below."
Noah pointed at the bars that looked similar to monkey bars but were farther apart and longer.
"Fifth, floating ladders, step and jump on the ladders without falling on the water."
He pointed to the blocks of earth that were floating but they were far apart as well.
"Sixth, rope swing, swing on the rope, again, don't fall on the water."
Four thick floating ropes hang over the water.
"Seventh; tilted floors, jump over them without falling."
Six alternating angled blocks of earth over water.
"Eighth; balance area, walk through it without falling."
'Gee, thanks for explaining.' Nera mocked in her head.
An angled thin piece of earth, fitting one foot at a time, connecting to the next piece of land.
"Ninth; inclined earth, just run as fast as you can to get to the top."
As the name suggests, the ground is inclined almost at a 90-degree angle.
"And lastly, slippery slide, you have to slide down to the finish line while standing up."
Like the balance area in structure but inclined directly to the finish line, wider and slippery.
Nera squinted her eyes at each course as she realized something.
'Isn't this just American Ninja Warrior but harder?'
She chuckled.
It also made her think.
These obstacles are so specific, and they were never mentioned, ever, on the novel itself. Nera understood why since its focus was on the romance part, but she still couldn't help but be amazed on how she really is in a world where her favorite characters are actual living people and the world she could only read from a screen was so detailed and intricate. As if it wasn't a world that she had just read from a web novel.
"If you fall on the water in one obstacle, you have to repeat that one obstacle all over again. No need to go back from the start," Noah continues.
"There are knights at the finish line to give you your scores. The grading system will be how fast you pass the finish line. This doesn't really matter much but just a heads up, 65% is equal to 52 points and your time should be less than eight minutes to attain this score. Anyway, it'll be easy for everyone to finish through this in six, which will be equivalent to 80%."
"Can I ask something?" Rosa raised her hand and Noah nodded as he crossed his arms. "The time for getting a 100% score?"
Noah replied, "Hmm, that'll be at least four minutes."
Nera's focus came back after hearing her brother's words as her eyes widened.
'Just four minutes?! On this monster course?! Impossible!'
