It's finally nearing December. The Knight's Exam that I have been looking forward to my whole life is right around the corner.
It's been a while since I had let my aura out. It was finally time.
If I continued to not use my aura until the examination date, I wouldn't know how strong I'd gotten. I need to know how to control this.
Since it's been a while, I had to concentrate to put out my aura, unlike back when I could just suddenly let it out. My body would feel too much shock if I did, it's been months since I let it out after all.
I closed my eyes, put my hands on my sides, relaxed my whole body, and breathed out as I carefully let out my mana to form an aura around me.
The aura with the darkest shade of purple, nearing the color black, slowly surrounded me while I was at our training grounds. Noel and Noah were there with me. I needed sparring partners after all.
"Woah!" I shouted as I felt the energy surge around my body. It hasn't been used to putting off aura this long since I often used it before.
As I went along with this no-aura routine, naturally, my body felt muscle pains. But thanks to mana devices made by healers called a healing patch to store mana, they relieved my pain way better than ice packs could. It healed my muscles fast too, a plus.
And now with my aura surrounding me once again, it rapidly regenerated any part of my body that was torn or felt tired.
Hah... I felt relief all over me. It was like sleeping on a mana-filled mattress. It was so relaxing and energizing.
I stood like that for a few more minutes to let the aura settle down and do its business with my body. I finally opened my eyes.
"Does it hurt?" Noel asked.
I shook my head and stretched my whole body.
"I feel better than ever, actually."
"That's good." Noel smiled and turned his head to Noah. "Well, then, go ahead Noah." He pushed Noah to the sparring area.
Noah lifted one of his brows and left his mouth open in disbelief, "Me first?" He pointed at himself.
Noel nodded and crossed his arms. Noah sighed and dragged his body near where I was.
"You first, huh?"
"Thanks, Captain Obvious," Noah replied.
"You scared to lose?"
Noah glared at me and stretched his neck. "We'll see about that." He let out his light purple aura.
I gulped when I felt the pressure from his aura. If he let this out in front of someone who isn't used to aura, they would surely not be able to breathe at all, how terrifying.
Noah's affinity is fire. He had a reddish purple aura when we were younger but when he was a teenager, he trained himself to master lightning. He was convinced that fire wasn't enough to accompany him with his bow and arrow and he focused all he could so that he would make lightning as well. He was lazy with everything else but with anything to do with his bow, it didn't apply.
A talented and hardworking archer with a fire affinity, Noah mi Ponterise.
I scoffed and readied my fighting stance.
Without hesitation, Noah pounced in front of me with his fist behind his ear, ready to launch at me.
Before he could, I dodged my head and followed up with an uppercut directed at his torso.
It hit!
"Ah!" Noah shouted and he crouched down, holding his stomach.
I was about to run to him in worry but he raised his hand to stop me.
"That was one hit in all these years, Nera." He said with a smirk. Confidently, he stood up as if nothing happened.
He's right. It was one hit in a spar with him. I couldn't even dream to hit him before but now, I just did!
I unconsciously grinned in excitement as I looked at my right fist, the one that hit Noah.
"And would you really go up to your enemy like that?" Noah spoke sternly. I flinched, hearing him scold me. It was rare, but he definitely gets mad and it's frightening.
I shook my head and furrowed my eyebrows.
"I'm not that weak, Nera." Noah rolled his eyes.
