After a week of doing the same thing, the situation changed suddenly when Harry spotted Dumbledore hiding and following Quirrell. Harry still somehow alerted the Unicorn after seeing Dumbledore having no intention of confronting Voldemort or saving the Unicorn. But that day Dumbledore also realised that a third party was sabotaging both his and Voldemort's plans after seeing the arrows.
Harry understood that it would be difficult to hide himself and save the creatures from those two very powerful wizards. So the next day he sent Hedwig to search for unicorn from the sky and he kept an eye on her.. Whenever she spotted any unicorn, she would stop and circle at the same spot 3-4 times to let him know. He opened a portal just under her, still hidden perfectly and sent the unicorn towards the area their herd resided through his portal. Making Voldemort not being able to find a single unicorn for three days.
In between, Hermione also let him know about Hagrid searching books on dragons and Harry knew that Norberta was being hatched. So the next time Hagrid left his hut, Harry took away the egg using his portal, carefull enough to erase his traces of magic. He sent it using the portal to Amalia, who had promised him that the egg will reach the place where it would be properly taken care of in his behalf. And that place would not be where Weasley worked.
His talks with Scamander had failed as the man declined signing any contract before knowing everything. Well he had already thought about the alternative and purchased 20 house-elves, who he was training everyday on how to take care of those creatures. He himself was no slouch after reading so many books on creatures including those from Gringotts, Just lacked some experience. And to get that experience as well as learn things that are generally not written in the book, Harry had talked with Dalilah, who promised to help him find capable people in the field to teach their knowledge and sign the contract.
That night also, Harry hid himself and was about to send Hedwig when he saw Dumbledore. It was way before the time Voldemort hunted so Harry was very suspicious about Dumbledore's purpose and watched him carefully.
What he observed filled Harry with rage. He saw Dumbledore seperate a pair of mother and pony. He was herding the mother towards the outer edges of the forest, obviously to let Voldemort drink her blood. This time Harry couldn't do anything but watch as Voldemort came and attacked the mother Unicorn and started drinking her blood.
Harry was thankful of the Centaurs who came and saved the pony from the same fate while driving away Voldemort. Dumbledore returned to the castle and Centaurs returned to their tribe, leaving the pony to cry as it tried to wake its mother, who was laying motionless on the ground, her silver blood flowing.
Harry went there instantly making the pony alert but Harry placated it and came to the mother Unicorn's side.
"I am sorry to not be able to save you at last." Harry said sadly as he patted her but was surprised to see her twitch. His eyes widened as he realised that she hadn't died till then and still had a silver of life left in her.
He immediately took out his wand casted the strongest healing magic he knew but to no avail. The wound was made using dark arts by Voldemort's shade, and Harry was not that proficient in healing spells even if he knew the theory.
Harry knew it was risky to stay there as Dumbledore or even Voldemort could return so opened a portal and carried the mother unicorn into it. Little Unicorn also understood his good intentions and followed him into the portal. The place where Harry took them was the fidelius covered training ground, where Alfred was restraining Fawkes.
"Fawkes, we have our differences because you were helping Dumbledore. But this Unicorn is innocent, it was assaulted by Voldemort, but I'm sure can be healed with your tears. Will you please give me your tears to heal her?" Harry asked softly. But Fawkes only looked at him in anger and turned his head, clearly expressing his stand.
Harry face darkened as his eyes blazed, " Since you have already decided to fight for the evil side, I'll make sure you won't get out alive." He uttered coldly.
The little Unicorn was getting more and more desperate and Harry knew he had to do something fast if he wanted to save the unicorn. Suddenly he thought of something and went inside his tent where philosopher's stone was placed along with two small bottles.
Harry had studied the stone and while he could still not make it for the time being, he was capable of using it effectively. He has been using it to make a lot of 15 kg. gold bars and had also extracted two doses of elixir of life. Harry took both the bottles and squatted beside the mother unicorn.
"I don't know if it will save her or not. I can only try my best." Harry patted the baby Unicorn as he opened one of the bottle and poured the elixir on the would, knowing well that drinking it would not save her.
Harry, Alfred and little Pony watched nervously for a few minutes and just when Harry was sad thinking they had failed, the mother unicorn twitched as her wound started healing rapidly, closing in just under a minute.
Harry did a little happy dance as Alfred cheered. The Pony and mother started rubbing against each other making Harry look at them with a soft smile. Soon both the Unicorns came to him making soft sounds as they bowed in front of him and rubbed against him intimately.
"Its alright, I did it because I was capable of doing it." Harry smiled before continuing seriously, " Can you do me a favour? The wizards responsible for yesterday's attacks will continue to target other unicorns. I want to to convince your kind to stay at a safe place with me for a few months at least before I can lessen the danger."
They made noises which Harry assumed to be a 'yes'. He portals back with both the Unicorns to the place where all other Unicorns gathered and after a lot of neighing, whinnimg and snorting, Harry finally relocated every unicorn to his family fields, covered by boundary and wards. He also let 4 of his elves take care of them.
