"Edward, sit down," Mr Quinn said, gesturing to the chair opposite his desk. Edward complied, sitting down and straightening his posture, readying himself for whatever was to come.
Mr Quinn leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled. "Do you know why I called you here?"
"No, Father, I don't," Edward replied, maintaining eye contact.
Mr Quinn sighed deeply, as if carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. "I had a visit from Vincent this morning. He brought to my attention certain... troubling matters regarding your personal life."
Edward felt a chill run down his spine. "What exactly did he say?"
"Vincent claimed you are facing a divorce," Mr Quinn said, his voice heavy trying to be calm as possible "And that this could potentially cause a scandal that might affect the company."
Edward's mind raced. Vincent, always the opportunist, had seized the moment to undermine him.
