"Sherly! Sherly!!" Edwards' mom called out, hoping Sherly would come to help her calm the situation, but there was no response. Apparently, Sherly had stepped out earlier.
"Annabelle, let go of her hair now," Serena ordered again. Annabelle finally loosened her grip, and Lydia stood upright, wincing in pain as she ran to stand behind Edwards' mom to shield herself from Annabelle.
"Mom, look what this girl did to me," she reported, sounding naive and innocent.
"She's pretending, she soaked all my clothes in water while I was away," Annabelle explained to her mother-in-law.
"She's lying against me; I didn't do it," Lydia said, pointing at Annabelle from behind Edwards' mom.
"Did you see her do it?" she asked Annabelle.
