Vin's sigh was heavy, his gaze distant as if he were reliving every moment that had led up to this point. "Sherly," he said quietly. "Edwards' cousin. We had a… thing. It wasn't supposed to mean much, but she's pregnant now. She's carrying my child." His voice softened at the last part, as though the reality of impending fatherhood hadn't fully settled in yet.
Clary's expression was a mix of surprise and understanding. She reached out and gave Vin's shoulder a light, reassuring pat. "You know, you're not making a bad choice here," she said. "Sherly's not as awful as people might think. Sure, she had her issues with Annabelle back then, but that was all because of her friend and some misunderstandings. It's ancient history. They're actually on good terms now. They've both grown up."
Vin let out a half-smile. "Yeah, people change," he murmured, as if trying to convince himself. "Still, it's hard to wrap my head around everything that's happened."
