The wind was howling as the rain drizzled down and spattered on the cold ground. The cracking sound of the thunder was everywhere and from the dark clouds, lightning struck here and there, lighting up the sky for a split second before vanishing.
The rain was quite heavy and you got a sickening feeling that the raindrops were stamping with rage on the roof and might break through any given second.
It has been raining heavily for the past 3 days but no one seemed to be worried about this phenomenon.
Occupying the Highland mountain ranges in the North Continent, Heavenly Sect was one of the four major Sects in the cultivation world.
300 years ago, Duan Yongzheng, the Sect Leader stepped into the Grandmaster Realm firmly stabilizing the Heavenly Sect's position as the number one in the power ranking.
On a certain similarly rainy day some time ago, the esteemed Duan Yongzheng was receiving an unexpected guest in his residence on Xinghai Peak.
As a Sect Leader, Duan Yongzheng's appearance was a wise elderly man with a pair of deep eyes showing the vicissitudes of life.
His gray hair was tied into a topknot showing a neat and clean appearance while dressed in a white and blue uniform.
Sitting in front of him was a man who looked much younger than him. The man wore a three-layer black and white robe with a silver lining embroidered at the hem of his sleeves. Despite looking modest and low-key, it could be discerned that his clothes were expensive.
His long lustrous black hair was tied into a high ponytail by a black ribbon leaving some strands of hair to fall helplessly alongside his pale face.
He didn't deliberately show off his strength but Duan Yongzheng could still sense the terrifying aura that only those who held a high position could possess.
As the man was sitting with his back against the open window, the light from the outside inevitably hit his body causing the shadow to loom over his face making it hard to see his appearance.
His attitude was rather cold and alienated but Duan Yongzhen who was known to be a powerhouse to the outside world was not offended.
With a modest smile, Duan Yongzhen said, "As long as Master is willing to help our Sect in case we meet troubles in the future. Things will be arranged accordingly."
The man gave a light nod in response and then unhurriedly stood up.
"I will be taking my leave then."
Duan Yongzhen stood up and respectfully cupped his hands in his direction. He watched as the man turned into a sword light and instantly disappeared from the room.
Even to this day, he still couldn't understand his request back then.
"Master, may disciple know what is bothering you?"
Having been awoke from the memory, the Sect Leader lightly shook his head, "Nothing. Master was reminded of something not long ago." Making a small pause, he added, "The rain will stop soon. He Shi, send three spirit fruits to Elder Shan to congratulate him for advancing to Master Realm."
He Shi heeded his order and quietly retreated from the room.
Being left alone, the Sect Leader glanced at the ominous gloomy sky.
For some reason, he felt that the world wouldn't be as peaceful anymore.
In the meantime, Jinglu slope, Heavenly's Outer Sect compounds.
Inside an abandoned shed, lying unconscious on the cold and damped ground was an unkempt boy in tattered clothes. Due to the broken roof, the raindrops rained on his messy hair dampening his entire head and soaking his shirt.
Despite this, the boy didn't move.
Some moments later, the small body finally showed signs of waking up. His small fingers unconsciously twitched followed by a soft groan.
With furrowed eyebrows, the boy reluctantly opened his eyes due to the sudden discomfort and coldness that penetrated his body.
His lips parted and several complaints poured out as he held his forehead, "... Damn, is the hangover so serio-"
Hmm? Why does his voice sound so strange?
For a moment there, Liu Xun's muddled head regained a bit of clarity. His blurry sight gradually became clear.
The first thing he saw was mud while feeling the raindrops mercilessly slapping his face.
Liu Xun: "..." Wait, did I sleep on the road last night?
Almost immediately, he rejected this idea. His drinking capacity was good and no matter how much he drank he would remember things afterwards.
He obviously recalled that he got back to his apartment safely, took a shower, and then went to bed while smiling happily.
At the thought of this, a dreadful feeling started to creep in and Liu Xun hastily lifted his eyes to look at the surroundings.
However, due to this abrupt action, the rain inevitably got into his eyes compelling Liu Xun to hurriedly shut them while hastily moving away from his original position.
Just as he was about to wipe away the water droplets from his face, Liu Xun was frozen stiff due to the uneven surface upon the contact.
Pulling his hand away from his face, Liu Xun looked at an unfamiliar small scrawny arm in front of him in disbelief.
No matter which angle one looked at, this was a less-than-10-year-old child's hand!
Witnessing this, Liu Xun was starting to freak out a little bit. He hurriedly looked down on his body which was the last nail in the coffin that he was indeed having a child physique.
To be precise, it was a severely malnourished and abused child.
Initially, Liu Xun only felt a physical pain but now unbearable hunger attacked him followed by a loud sound of protest from his stomach.
Liu Xun collectively went silent in this bizarre situation. His mind rapidly spun and he quickly found an explanation.
... Is this a lucid dream? Right, it should be.
Feeling reasonable, Liu Xun's mood gradually loosened. He calmly recalled several methods to wake himself up from the dream.
Yelling, speaking out loud, and repeatedly blinking.
Leisurely squeezing the water from his shirt, Liu Xun started to recount his story, "Back in my years as a student, I studied while doing multiple part-time jobs and I was still at the top of my grade while maintaining my scholarship! I skipped grades and graduated early. I was even voted as the school grass and had a lot of suitors but I only had a career in his mind so I refused all of them!"
"I got accepted into a Top university and graduated with flying colors. I even got accepted into a Big company! After working diligently, I became the youngest director at the age of 25! Liu Xun, you better wake up and enjoy your life as a golden bachelor and get yourself a wife!"
Despite saying so much, nothing happened. The sound of the rain was still there so was the discomfort that never really went away.
... Am I too drunk to get up? Must be so.
Unwilling to give up, Liu Xun cleared his throat and started to sing a song.
"On every street and pathway,
On everyone's lips,
The first thing we say is,
Good wishes, good wishes to you, yeah!
Good wishes, good wishes to you!"
[A/N: Gong Xi Gong Xi, a popular Chinese New Year song.]
After singing for a while, his voice grew smaller and smaller until he abruptly stopped since his voice had gone hoarse making his throat dry.
Seeing that this was not working, Liu Xun opted for an easier option which was blinking.
As a result, he blinked and blinked...
Until morning.
Blankly staring into space, Liu Xun's eyes were bloodshot.
It finally sank to him that this was not a dream which finally caused him to snap.
"F*ck! Laozi was such a model citizen, Why are you doing this to Laozi?!"
[A/N: In this context, Laozi means I, your father (in anger or out of contempt)]
Unlike last night's bragging, this time his voice contained unwillingness and a tinge of being aggrieved, "I have no family so I must work and study hard to get a better education! After graduating, I worked and socialized like a dog! I finally get to where I am today... Now you are telling me that I couldn't enjoy what I have earned so far?!"
Of course, no one answered him.
The rain has long ceased. The sun has already risen for quite some time. The sound of the birds chirping was something that Liu Xun hadn't heard in a long time after moving into the big city.
The morning breeze was cold but not piercing and even the air smelled refreshing. Had it been on a normal time, Liu Xun would have appreciated this good weather but now he just wanted to beat someone up.
Unfortunately, his body was not in a condition that allowed him to do so either.
Done ranting, Liu Xun took several deep breaths to calm himself down.
Due to sufficient light, he finally witnessed how bad his new body was and he mentally cursed whoever did this to a child to go to the 18th layer of hell!
There were numerous cut scars all over his body. They looked hideous and a large area of burn scar spread from his neck to his left shoulder.
His face was no exception. It was also subjected to cut and burn scars. Not to mention, feeling some pain on his face, Liu Xun bet that some areas were bruised and the skin might have already turned purple by now.
Judging by his situation, Liu Xin was somewhat convinced that he was a little beggar living alone in this abandoned hut. Probably, this unfortunate child died last night and he somehow took over his body.
It was just that his outfit bothered him quite a bit.
This body had on a loosely cut thigh-length dark blue robe with wide sleeves fastened by a sash around his waist and a pair of loose black pants and black hemp slippers.
Isn't this what you normally see commoners wear in historical drama?
Liu Xun's face gradually sunk at the thought that he might have been brought to an ancient period with no advanced technology.
With a sense of urgency, he hurriedly scurried the entire 'house' until his eyes landed on a book that looked like it was something from a modern time did he heave a sigh of relief.
Nevertheless, it still felt strange to see an unused book devoid of a single speck of dust lying in this rundown place.
Liu Xun wordlessly stared down at his pair of dirty hands and clothes.
It shouldn't be brought or stolen by the boy.
Propping himself up from the ground, Liu Xun trudged closer to the book.
As expected, there were no dirty stains on the spotless white cover nor did it get wet from last night's rain.
There was no cover picture except for a bold title that said 'Crossing the world to meet you' on the front cover.
"Why is there a novel here?"
Realizing that it was a novel, Liu Xun hesitated for a bit before picking it up to read.
The story was told from the female lead's perspective. It was a cliche story of a secret agent who died on her mission but got transmigrated into the wasted and ugly third young miss of the Xiu family.
Due to her divine medical skill, Xiu Ximen cured herself to become a genius once in a million years and a rare beauty. She later got accepted as a direct disciple of Elder Shi, Moon Shadow peak lord of the Heavenly Sect, a number one sword cultivator who had never taken any disciple before.
Troubles soon followed due to envy and Xiu Ximen has never spent a single day peacefully. Not long after, due to a certain event, she was led to the Outer Sect and finally met the little male protagonist, Wan Yu.
After reading this scene, Liu Xun didn't know what to feel seeing the mentally twenty-six-year-old Xiu Ximen describe the seven-year-old Wan Yu as a dangerous and unfathomable person.
Attributing it to the usual high-IQ male lead troupe, Liu Xun decided to move on.
He roughly skimmed through the text for another while but found nothing amiss. Just as he was about to stop, his eyes inadvertently caught a glimpse of a new character named Wu Jing.
Almost immediately, a torrent of foreign memories came crushing in alongside head-splitting pain stabbing his brain which caused him to drop the book and hug his head while writhing.
An unknown amount of time passed before the pain finally disappeared. Liu Xun's face was ghastly pale while his body was completely soaked as if he had just been fished out of the water.
Sensing the water droplet rolling down his cheek onto his chin, Liu Xun was not sure whether it was his tear or sweat.
Either way, they are both salty and he is feeling incredibly salty right now!
Goddamnit! He is not even in the same world anymore ah ah ah!
To make things worse, both protagonists were cold-blooded murderers with the male protagonist killing everyone left and right for no odd reason!
Even Wu Jing who had an extremely rare ancient demon physique was not spared from his evil clutch. In fact, Wu Jing was the most miserable among the bunch!
He was skinned alive, got shredded to pieces and his soul was trapped in an artifact that would forever burn his soul until it was completely scattered never to be reincarnated!
And guess what? He is now residing in that unlucky fella Wu Jing's body!
Who the hell wants to be starred in this f*king cheap story?! I, your Uncle don't want to!
