Slayer Leonie, a lovely young woman of just only 25 years, short brown hair with teal streaks highlighting it, blue eyes, a bit taller than the average woman, 5'8'', a healthy weight now but was a little on the chubby side throughout her school days until after her last year of high school and she began working out and eating better.
Though she did sneak a bite or two from the sweets she now makes and sold in her own little bakery. She didn't do it alone no, she had a few people there working for her and with her.
She and her employees didn't act like a normal boss and employee should. No, they act more like family.
There's the older 'brother' Billy Rhodes, he mans the ovens and helps with the deliveries, he is a bit older then Slayer and the others here, hence the older brother title.
There's Aydin and Axton Treyton, twin brothers and just a couple of years younger than Slayer, barely out of high school and just starting college. They keep track of what's left out in the front of the store and display case and man the register.
And finally, there's Raven Barak, she helps Slayer with making the sweets, she was a only a year older then Slayer was and was also a goth chick.
Slayer was also a bit of a goth herself, but not full blown like Raven is. She and Raven became fast friends over their common interests and because Raven loved Slayer's name and the cross-shaped scar on Slayer's left cheek; right where her cheeks bone was, that she got during her high school days.
And there was also the fact that three of the people at her little bakery was demons while she and the other was human.
The Treyton twins were fox demons, they looked mostly human save for their ears being pointed, their feet, and their arctic fox tails.
And Raven was a snake demon, half her body was that of a snake's that had the pattern of a diamondback rattlesnake but the colors were black and bright green.
She and Billy were the humans, obviously as they were the only ones left.
And today was a little different than usual. Axton didn't come in because of a test he had at the colledge he and his brother went to. So Slayer took over at the register. Though she didn't really need the register as she was a wiz at math, she loved math. She used to love science too. But thanks to her high school bully, she lost her love and passion for it.
But she wasn't about to let him take her love for math!
The little bell above the door jingled, alerting them that their was a customer. Slayer looked up to see a new person to the bakery, but not so new to her.
There before her standing a good 6'6'', with a black tight fitting shirt that showed off his defined, strong chest, arms, and stomach, dark blue jeans, dark brown biker boots, dirty blonde hair, dark amber eyes, and ruggedly handsome, was her high school bully,
Rumi Salinger.
And not only that, but he was also a dog demon. But he wasn't like how the Treyton twins were, he looked more human then them, except for his fangs, claws, eyes and pointed ears.
Slayer watched him look around the place while she stood in place frozen in fear. The last time she had seen him was when he gave her the scar on her cheek and there was no way he wouldn't recognize her, not with her scar or her scent.
She remembered when he'd mock her scent saying everytime that he thought he smelled something foul and disgusting before he'd go into his usual thing of bullying her. She could handle his taunts and his shoving, but that day he gave her the scar was the first time she had cried in front of him. She wouldn't give him or his friends the satisfaction of seeing her cry. She would go and cry somewhere else, far away from him and his goons.
When his eyes finally rested on her, they widened as he did recognize her, he hadn't caught her scent due to the overwhelming scent of the sweets in the small room, but once he sorted them out, he caught her scent as well as those of the snake, fox, and human male that was here.
Rumi found himself growling at the scent of the human male's, but then stopped when he caught Slayer's fear, he knew that scent all too well. He caught it everytime he came to her and he used to take pleasure in that.
But that was before that last time when he had thrown that rock a little harder then he intended because that was also the day his inner demon spoke up for the first time and had told him to stop attacking their mate.
At the word 'mate' he had been so shocked by it that he had thrown the stone harder and it struck her in her cheek, splitting her skin down to the bone itself. Upon seeing and smelling her blood and her tears, he felt absolutely sick to his stomach at what he had done. His inner demon howled at seeing her like that.
After that, he swore to not bother her again. And when his so-called friends were bored and wanted to go and bully Slayer, he'd fight them on it. And when they questioned why he changed his mind he told his demon friends why and only one was understanding while the others mocked him and his human friends taunted what they'd do to Slayer, which pissed Rumi off and he fought them and kicked their asses, telling them to either respect his choice in mate and leave it alone or go find themselves another friend.
All but one chose to respect his choice in mate. As demons can only choose their one true mate through scent. And it only kicks in once both parties had matured enough to be together, mate, and breed.
But Rumi ruined all that because of his continuous bullying and then that scar...there was no way she'd be with him now. Not after how he had treated her. Mates weren't supposed to treat their mates like that.
And even now, after all this time, the sight of him still scares her.
He didn't say anything as she shakily asked the fox demon to take over for her as she went on a break. He didn't even try to stop her.
He knew the young fox was confused and most likely smelled that they were mates, all demons can smell another demon's mate, whether they were marked or not.
And since Slayer was human, the fox would know that she had to be informed of their intended mating.
When Rumi brought a random sweet up to the register, the fox; Aydin the name tag said, asked him in a suspicious tone,
" Why is your mate afraid of you? And why hasn't Slay mentioned you before? "
Rumi also detected the protectiveness in the way Aydin spoke and stood, something that he was supposed to do.
He paid for his muffin and replied in his usual ruff tone, " Long story Fox. "
And with that, Rumi left the bakery. But he would be back and he would show Slayer that he had changed and he wasn't the same bullying pup he had been when they were in school.
