"And we've got a few gold mercenaries from the Magistrates to replace them. If you battle as much as we have, naturally, in the end, only death is what awaits. I don't think they will be too surprised that death found them today. Besides, they died keeping the rest of us alive," Harland said.
"You were lucky, it sounds like, Lord Commander," Vale said. She had to hear the stories of the battle second hand, and anyone could see from the look on her face that she vastly regret that fact.
"Lucky would be capturing the damn thing, despite it all. We're in a deadlock. Our momentum is completely gone," Vol said. "They can march on us whenever they wish now. We're too slow to do anything about it."
"Lady Tiller's men ought to be arriving any day now. They will serve to put things once again in our favour, will they not?" Harland said. "And we can quite well build some siege weapons. We managed to get that close, without even a ladder."
