"If you make it past their lines with wagons full of food, then aye, you'll have a use," Vol replied mercilessly. "But can you do that, I wonder? You've never seen battle in your life. Even your seed has given birth to such weakness."
He pointed at Blight, who sat nearby, cradling his recently broken nose.
"Do you have no mercy?" The Elder pleaded.
"There is no place for it when death is at everyone's door. You mean nothing to me, Elder, unless you can provide something. I have reasons that I wish to live, and I have the strength to keep those reasons alive and burning. What do you have?" Vol said.
"…I tied you and our village together, when I married our women to your men. Do those marriages mean nothing?" The Elder said.
