Vol seized on that instantly. "I see that the men that you've brought with you still do not know their place," he said, an edge to his voice.
The Elder kept his cool, despite the provocation. He held his cane out to the side, to stop his son from taking the step that he'd intended to take forward. "Do forgive them, Commander, they are still under some mistaken impressions."
"So it would seem."
"But I say the same to you," the Elder said. "You seem to think that we are beneath you."
"An interesting way to start this discussion. I had thought you came here to make a deal," Vol said.
"Indeed I did, and you already know what we want, and yet you could not resist making us lower in our want for it," the Elder said. "But so too have my people refused to offer you any sort of respect, so I shall not condemn you for that."
"Hm," was all Vol said, raising an eyebrow, as he impatiently tapped the hilt of his weapon.
