The third volley came, and a boulder ran through the stairs, destroying a good portion of them, and leaving a six-foot drop in its place. Soldiers still trapped above were forced to make a decision. It was a nasty jump to make, but it was about the only option that they have. A good deal gave pained cries as they landed heavily, pulled down by their armour.
It was only after that third volley that the Merca army could declare that the keep was cleared. It was about the only option available to them, if they wanted to withstand the continuous volley of the catapults.
"Not a bad decision, Commander," Harland acknowledged with approval, seeing the potential for a counterattack, should the enemy decide to march on Karth Keep and seize it, after pulling their catapults back.
