Vol wanted to find a way to corner the man, and see him dealt with. The trouble was, the man could flee in any direction. There were only four sets of stairs, on each of the four different walls of the castles, and during the time that Vol was climbing one set of stairs, Commander Ridley and his Henrick men could easily be sprinting onto the next set of stairs.
He considered it, wondering how he could see them cornered. Rarely, if ever, did he get an opportunity to sit back and ponder in the middle of the battlefield. But apparently, here, his instincts had hit upon the solution long before he did. He felt a cruelty stirring inside him, as he listened to the orchestra of screams from the servants behind slaughtered in the keep.
