The arrows that took to the air as the Sea Serpent army was sent charging were no more than the sting of a bee. They hefted their shields to protect the men that were carrying the ladders, and quickly came within distance of the wall.
The pots of oil that Count Torn had been passing around in the days before were far from being enough in their number. They couldn't be in every single place at once. But that didn't mean that they were useless. The opening move of the battle came from such a pot of oil, as it was hurled from the top of the wall, right onto a team of ladder-carrying men. The clay pot shattered, and drenched them all in its black liquid. A lit torch quickly followed, igniting an inferno of flame the second it came near the oil.
