He then allowed himself a half an hour of rest, sat in the grass, dodging the patches of sheep dung, and giving himself a brief bit of respite from the saddle. Once thirty minutes had passed, nearly right on the dot, to the second, Vol set himself standing again, and pulled himself into the saddle.
The sitting army stirred at their Commander's sudden mounting. Harland stood up with Vol, and found himself a horse, and then the Sea Serpent veterans began to stand as well. The older Syndran recruits followed suit soon after, and by that point, the newest men, by the laws of conformity, could not afford to sit. A hundred men were set to standing, and doubtfully, the rest of Tiller's army began to follow suit, though they heard not a single order.
And then, a short few moments later, the army of the enemy began to stream around a corner in the road.
