"That is not my decision to make," the clerk said, troubled.
"If you were to make that decision, there would be no repercussions against you. The word of Captain Blackwood alone is trustworthy enough, is it not, even if it doesn't conform to your official proceedings," Batinkog put in, running a finger up his nose as if to adjust an imaginary pair of glasses. "Word from Count Nest will be brought in within the next few days, I imagine. You had only need then take that word for your records. There is no need for us to wait in the meantime."
The clerk stared at him blankly, as if he was having a hard time keeping up with what Batinkog was saying. "…Sorry, I've not been here long enough to dare to make those kinds of decisions. Do you mind giving me a few minutes whilst I ask my superior?"
"A few minutes is nothing when compared with the likes of days," Batinkog said, answering for them. The clerk nodded, and quickly shuffled away.
