The tip of the wedge in Vol hit it first. His axe held out in front of him measured the distance. Pandora's eyes put together the flames of the first rider with the two riders to either side of him, creating a flame that Vol had already subordinated in his mind before the horses reached him. When his axe did move, and blood did flow, it was three riders that ended up being murdered in an instant.
It was hard to tell exactly what had happened. Pandora's vision gave Vol the power to make a single kill into one. For mortal eyes to discern the process of it, without significant martial prowess, was a difficult feat. The first swing of his axe had come lacing across the skill of the horse, just deeply enough to run a scratch across its brain. That same strike had continued into the torso of the rider to the left, before it wound its way back around, and cut all the way to the rider on the right on the backswing.
