"You didn't direct the entirety of your bloodlust at him either," Vol said. "That will be a weakness in them."
He scanned the rest of their numbers. Few were of the same age as Barcus. Most were younger. He doubted that the younger of them would have any more battlefield experience than the wrinkled Barcus did.
"Is that an issue?" Francis asked carefully.
"It is. But it is one that can be fixed with time," Vol said.
"I see. Which of the men do you wish to test next?"
"None," Vol replied. "I've seen enough. I'll take all of them."
Francis didn't look displeased, but he did look uncertain. "…Are you sure? Usually after spending such an amount of coin, one would be more choosy in the soldiers that they took on. You would have every right to. We certainly will not complain, if that is what you are worried about."
