That they were mercenaries lent to the case as well. They were far stronger than the average citizen. For them to have been murdered in such a brutal fashion was terrifying in an exciting sort of way. It meant that there were men out there stronger than them, or at least more cunning. It led to suspicion being cast on the higher ranked mercenaries.
"They're the only ones that could have done it," was the consensus.
