It did not escape Penelope's attention that the woman had dressed herself up, wearing her finest jewellery and dresses. She wondered if the others amongst the Sea Serpents had noticed it. For a woman of such standing to dress up for the likes of mere mercenaries was no doubt a far from common occurrence. It seemed that the effects of the Farseer name were felt, even when Penelope was not carrying herself with all the nobility that it demanded of her.
"You will be pleased to know that we have chanced upon new maids," Thornhand said. "So you will not be wanting for food if you wish for it, and your rooms shall be kept cleaned. I think you should find this residence in no way inferior to the inn. Modest it might be, but in cleanliness, I shall not be defeated."
