The waters were indeed calm, but more than a few things swam below the surface.
"This is it, then," Harland said, studying the map that he'd bought, and confirming to the rest of them that the fort they stood outside of was the right one.
It was as tumbled down as they'd been led to believe. Some of its walls were stone, and where that stone had collapsed, they had been reinforced by wood. It didn't have proper doors to guard it either. In its place, it had rows of barricades, which likely needed to be moved anytime a party went in or out of the settlement.
There were scouts stationed on the walls, eyeing their arrival long before they'd set foot in front of them.
