There was blood and sinew aplenty, but as for resistance, it could not be said that there was much. Each Sea Serpent was barely afforded five slashes, before there were no more enemies to cut and no more shields to break.
The merchant looked on with an uncomprehending expression as the Sea Serpents began to drag the corpses out of the middle of the road to make way for the wagon, without even the slightest sign of celebrating their victory. They made it look the most mundane of affairs.
"There's men in those grasses," Harland announced, noting a stir. "They're fleeing."
"Leave them," Vol said. "If they have any sense, they'll tell their comrades to leave us alone for the rest of the journey. We'll see this quest done before the day is over. Penelope – ask that merchant if he's going to move. He's still staring like it's his first time seeing blood."
