Penelope translated his words for Vol to hear.
"Tell him that even if a hundred were to arrive, they'd be sent back the same way that they came," Vol said. "We'll see the contract through to the end. We've not even been dealt an injury yet."
"Those are certainly reliable words," the ship master said, eyeing Vol up, and noticing the cleanness of his clothes compared to everyone else. "I shall be relying on you, then, given the damage that our other two mercenary teams have been dealt."
On that second day, they were once more rowed to the tower, this time in the light of day. They were ferried across on a single ship, both the builders and the mercenaries alike. Being the small ship that it was, the vessel needed to make two journeys to accommodate them all.
