His feet stomped their way behind their charging army, his hammer always ready. He glared expectantly, waiting for the men that would trickle from beyond the walls – but none came. At least not in time. His hammer was forced to still itself again. He could have gone out of his way to slaughter the foes beyond, but that would have only wasted more time. Their way forward was secured, and he relented, following the path that Penelope had created.
Penelope had to bite her lip to keep her focus. Pride was swelling in her chest, and she could not allow it. There were too many walls still in their way, and it seemed unlikely that the enemy would continue to fall for the same strategies going forward.
