For Vol it was a different sense. It was not mana that he was offered, but it was more potential in his Summoning, if it could be called Summoning anymore. The one ingredient he had not attempted to transmute, since he had learned to Summon from fundamentals, was that of a live human.
They'd been required as ingredients by the System in the past, but it was hardly the same. The System had not made express use of what it was that made that human. It would have been just as content with corpses, if not for the price.
In terms of flames, Vol knew that the human flame in it was worth no more than the physical ingredients, and the slightest influence of consciousness. But what if there was more offered? What if he knew those people well enough to understand their flames – how much could he attach to them?
The answer, Vol knew, was a sickening amount.
